Privacy Policy

1. Introduction

XHome.school is a free homeschool management platform built by a homeschool family, for homeschool families. We help parents and teachers organize assignments, track grades, manage quizzes, and motivate students through an XP and rewards system. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and how we protect it.

2. Information We Collect

We collect only what is necessary to provide the service:

• Account information — name, email address, and passkey credentials when you register.
• Student data — student names, grades, assignment submissions, quiz responses, XP totals, and achievement records created by the parent/teacher.
• Device tokens — if you enable push notifications, we store a device token to deliver them.
• Usage data — basic server logs (IP address, browser type, pages visited) for security and troubleshooting.

We do not collect location data, financial information, social media profiles, or any data from third-party sources.

3. How We Use Information

We use collected information solely to operate and improve XHome.school:

• Providing the assignment, grading, quiz, and rewards features you use.
• Authenticating your identity and keeping your account secure.
• Sending push notifications you have opted into.
• Diagnosing technical problems and improving the platform.

We never sell your data. We never display ads. We never share your information with data brokers, advertisers, or any third party for marketing purposes.

4. Children’s Privacy

Protecting children’s privacy is extremely important to us. XHome.school is designed so that only a parent or teacher can create student accounts. Students cannot sign up on their own.

• Student accounts are created exclusively by a parent/teacher through an invitation system.
• The parent/teacher controls all student data and can view, edit, or delete it at any time.
• Students can only access their own dashboard — they cannot see other students’ data.
• We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without verifiable parental consent. The parent/teacher account holder provides that consent by creating the student account.
• If you believe a child’s data has been collected without proper parental consent, contact us immediately at support@xhome.school and we will delete it.

5. Data Storage & Security

Your data is stored on secure servers with the following protections:

• All connections use HTTPS/TLS encryption in transit.
• Passwords are never stored — we use passkey (WebAuthn) authentication, which is phishing-resistant by design.
• Database access is restricted and protected by strong credentials.
• We perform regular backups to prevent data loss.

While no system is 100% secure, we take reasonable measures to protect your data from unauthorized access, alteration, or destruction.

6. Third-Party Services

We use a minimal number of third-party services:

• Anthropic (Claude AI) — powers AI-generated quizzes and short-answer grading. Quiz content is sent to the API for processing; no student personal information is included in these requests.
• PayPal — processes voluntary donations only. We do not store any payment information. PayPal’s own privacy policy governs donation transactions.
• Font Awesome — provides icons used in the interface. Loaded via a CDN.

We do not use Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, or any tracking or advertising services.

7. Data Retention & Deletion

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. You may request deletion at any time:

• Parents/teachers can delete individual student accounts and all associated data from within the app.
• To delete your entire account and all data, email support@xhome.school and we will process your request within 30 days.
• Upon deletion, all personal data is permanently removed from our active systems. Backups containing deleted data are overwritten within 90 days.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make significant changes, we will notify registered users via the app. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.
